Travis and Missy
Travis
and Missy met while working as SCUBA instructors at the exclusive Caneel Bay Resort
on St John.
Their personalities instantly clicked while working together as captain and crew and they discovered they shared a
number of interests.
Not only did they love teaching their guests about the underwater
world, they both shared an enthusiasm for cooking and their positive energy creates a fun relaxed environment for their
guests.
Combined
they have over thirty years of experience navigating the Caribbean
waters. They both agree, as would their guests, that when you are with them, you are on
vacation!
Captain Travis Kreuger discovered his love of the water while growing up on the Great Lakes of Michigan where sailing, fishing, and water skiing were is childhood passions. When those same lakes froze in the wintertime, he played ice hockey.
To branch out from his Midwestern roots, Travis enlisted with the United States Navy. While serving his country he discovered the world of SCUBA diving. After his service in the Navy, Travis went on to study at the University of Connecticut while bartending his way through school. His charming personality, as well as his attention to detail helped him excel in the field of hospitality management.
After having spent a number of years in the New England chill, the appealing climate of the Virgin Islands beckoned. While living in the sunny Caribbean for the past fourteen years, Travis has been a bartender, sailing and windsurfing instructor, a SCUBA instructor and a dive boat captain. For twelve years he worked for award winning dive shops, such as Chris Sawyer and Redhook Dive Centers.
Travis absolutely loves his work as a yacht captain because it incorporates all he has learned and allows him to sail, dive, make cocktails, experiment in the galley, and most of all...entertain his guests.
Captain Travis also holds a USCG 100 ton Masters License and is a PADI Master Dive Trainer and Instructor.
First Mate/Chef Missy Kom's love for the Caribbean began over twenty years ago when she left the
hustle and bustle of New York with a one-way ticket to the U.S. Virgin
Islands. At nights she worked in many of St. John's finest restaurants,
expanding
her knowledge of food and wine, while earning herself a wine sommelier
certification.
Growing up she had the privilege of working with celebrity chef Ina
Garten - The Barefoot Contessa. Thanks to Ina, Missy became passionate
about cooking and sharing recipes and photos with her
sisters.
Missy's
love for the water started when she lead charter boat excursions which
included hiking, snorkeling and kayak tours. The first time Missy
tried scuba diving, she fell in love with the sport and it became her
obsession. She is a PADI Instructor with over eight thousand dives logged and is now one of the highest rated
scuba instructors in the Virgin Islands. Missy loves taking people
snorkeling and diving and educating them on the incredible marine life
of the Caribbean.
Missy's extensive knowledge and
love of the Caribbean waters, along with her devotion to superior
hospitality create a dynamic and truly memorable visit. Missy is a PADI Instructor as well. Together, Travis and Missy create a nurturing environment on Pisces. Whether it be the top-notch hospitality, the gourmet meals, or the spectacular dive adventures, these two bring it all to the table. With the added luxury of the sailing yacht Pisces, you will have the memories of a lifetime, along with a desire to return and continue exploring these beautiful island.
